Summoners want to know when we can expect an exact release date for League of Legends Lissandra, The Ice Witch, a new champion and former lady of LoL lore, who originally appeared in the League of Legends Journal of Justice. Now Lissandra is becoming a new champion, and boy does she look awesome.

As the League of Legends Lissandra release date announcement approaches, we likely expect plenty of speculation on the part of summoners everywhere as to when LoL 2013's Lissandra, the Ice Witch, will release. Our best bet is that we will see Lissandra's release date fall on a Tuesday as part of another League of Legends 2013 patch. Riot Games has, thus far, had a resplendent year, filled with exciting new champions and updates. In January, new champion Thresh, the Chain Warden, was released, followed by the epic new champion duo range carriers Quinn and Valor. The most recent addition to LoL 2013 new champion release dates was, of course, last month's Zac, the Secret Weapon, who stormed (or should we say blobbed? onto the scene as the newest melee fighter, to many summoners' delights.

We hope to hear a solid League of Legends Lissandra release date for the LoL 2013 season soon. When will Lissandra come out? Only Riot Games knows, but for now we have plenty of Lissandra PBE video to enjoy. We also have plenty of delicious details on the newest Mage support, the Ice Witch, for you to delight in. Below we have listed all of Lissandra's glorious abilities, thanks to the League of Legends' wiki page

Passive: Iceborn: After a brief cooldown, Lissandra's next ability costs no mana. Hitting an enemy with movement impairing abilities reduces Iceborn's cooldown.

Q: Ice Shard: Lissandra throws a spear of ice that shatters on contact with the first enemy struck, dealing damage and slowing their movement speed for a short duration. Enemies behind the struck target also take damage.

W: Ring of Frost: Lissandra freezes the area around her, dealing damage to nearby enemies and rooting them for a short duration.

E: Glacial Path: Lissandra casts a slow-moving, long-range ice claw in a line, dealing damage to all enemies in its path. Re-activating Glacial Path teleports Lissandra to the claw's current location.

R: Frozen Tomb:

On enemy cast: Lissandra freezes an enemy champion, damaging and stunning them briefly. Dark Ice emanates from the target, dealing damage and slowing nearby enemies.

On self-cast: Lissandra encases herself in ice, rooting herself in place briefly and becoming untargetable and invulnerable. Dark Ice emanates from Lissandra, dealing damage and slowing nearby enemies.

Pretty sweet ability set, huh? And no League of Legends release date announcement would be complete without first some new champion lore, also thanks to League of Legends wiki:

"Lissandra's magic twists the pure power of ice into something dark and terrible. With the force of her black ice, she does more than freeze - she impales and crushes those who oppose her. To the terrified denizens of the north, she is known only as "The Ice Witch". The truth is much more sinister: Lissandra is a corrupter of nature who plots to unleash an ice age on the world.

Centuries ago, Lissandra betrayed her tribe to evil creatures, known as the Frozen Watchers, in return for power. That was the last day that warm blood ran through her veins. With her corrupted tribesmen and the strength of the Watchers, she swept across the land like a terrible blizzard. As her empire spread, the world grew colder and ice choked the land. When the Watchers were defeated by ancient heroes, Lissandra did not lose faith and swore to prepare the world for their return.

Lissandra worked to purge all knowledge of the Watchers from the world. Using magic to take human form, she masqueraded as numerous seers and elders. Over the course of generations, she rewrote the stories of the Freljord, and so the history of its people changed. Today the fragmented retellings of the Watchers are seen as children's tales. But this deception wasn't enough - Lissandra also needed an army.

She set her sights on the noble Frostguard tribe. Lissandra knew corrupting the Frostguard would take centuries, and so she launched her greatest deception. She murdered and stole the identity of the Frostguard leader. Then she slowly began to warp the tribe's proud traditions. When her human form grew old, she faked her own death and then murdered her successor to steal her identity. With each generation, the Frostguard grew more insular, cruel and twisted. Today, the world still sees them as a noble and peaceful tribe that guards against evil creatures like the Ice Witch. In truth, they now serve the witch and long for the glorious return of the Watchers.

Lissandra knows that on that day nations will fall and the world will be reborn in ice."

While we don't know exactly when we can expect a League of Legends Lissandra release date, we can expect one sooner than later, as Riot Games seems to be sticking to a loose monthly new champion release. In the meantime enjoy some more Lissandra PBE video footage, and some choice comments from the official summoner League of Legends forum page on the Lissandra announcement post:

"Nice job Riot! Lissandra looks awesome! I love this new visual effect on the ice, perhaps you might want apply it to Nunu and all the other ice champions, maybe even to the passive on Crystal Scepter." - Ibliss

"She actually scares me XD (speaking of her art and modeling) well done, really sent a chill down my spine" - Benmarch

"Is this an April fools? because this isn't the Lissandra from the journal of justice that everyone has been anticipating for a long time, I feel tricked, when the lore of the three sisters and the rise to city-state status of Freljord was posted in the journal of justice nearly 2 years ago. I'm sure I'm not the only one anticipating the arrival of Lissandra the "Ice DERVISH", so if Riot changes their lore so brazenly at every turn i honestly fear for what might happen to some champion and lore elements that we love so much that might getting butchered for the sake of "filling role gaps in the champion roster". i just hope that my fears are unfounded and deluded. granted this is a great champion and has amazing potential, i just feel that the lore aspect to what everyone knows is damaged" - Carlic Drakining

"This champ looks so amazing! Though, if I though Zac looked out of place in the league, Lissandra does even more xD Doesn't matter though, she reminds me of something from Magic, The Gathering.. or at least the art style does. Though, her name is pretty cheesy, it's still a great job, can't wait to try her out!" -ZombieCakes

"Riot, I just bought zac, why do you want all of my money? Should i set my alarm for 3.5 weeks for this champ too? or can i expect her sooner? Honestly, id rather not know she exists until 2 weeks prior. I cant handle the anticipation." - KryptoGhost

We feel you, KryptoGhost, we really do. Enjoy some more exciting PBE video footage of Lissandra, The Ice Witch, below, and stay tuned for more up-to-date news on a League of Legends Lissandra release date for LoL 2013.
