‘Watch Dogs’ Release Date: Trailer Confirms Autumn 2013 Release on PC, PS3, Wii U [VIDEO]
A "Watch Dogs" release date update has arrived in the form of a new "Watch Dogs" trailer, which confirms an Autumn 2013 release date on PC, PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii U. "Watch Dogs" blew fans and critics away during its unveiling at E3 2012, though information about a "Watch Dogs" release date has been relatively sparse since its announcement. An extended "Watch Dogs" trailer was unveiled as part of Sony's PS4 press conference, though, at that time, the game was still only vaguely hinted at for release this year. A "Watch Dogs" release date on PS4 and Xbox 720 was rumored at separately, with a leaked promotional poster claiming a "Holiday 2013" release. The "Watch Dogs" release date for PC, Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii U remains slated for release by developer Ubisoft during Q3 of 2013.
The "Watch Dogs" release date may be months away, but the new "Watch Dogs" trailer is filled with delectable new gameplay footage and information on Ubisoft's upcoming stealth hacker adventure. The new "Watch Dogs" trailer reveals new footage of anti-hero protagonist Aiden Pierce, a hacker with a heart of gold, who uses his unauthorized access into a dystopian near-future Chicago's central operating system, or "CtOS," as it is called in the game, to change the world. In the "Watch Dogs" vision of a cyberpunk future, Aiden Pierce uses his hacking abilities to control the cityscape around him, altering transit and traffic, weaponizing public property, stealing identities and protecting innocent civilians through his unfettered access to public files. All this exciting new footage has us yearning for a "Watch Dogs" release date on PS3, Xbox 360, PC and Wii U, though we will just have to wait until Autumn 2013, as the trailer reveals at its ending. The new "Watch Dogs" trailer of gameplay footage is smartly edited together like security footage presented at a police briefing, featuring a voiceover that describes and documents Aiden Pierce's use of hacked CtOS information and his baffling access to public files. Gameplay featured in the new trailer includes footage of Aiden evading police forces, hacking an ATM, overloading an electrical fuse box to help take down his target, and rescuing a woman from her husband, on whom she has a restraining order. If anything, the newest CtOS-oriented "Watch Dogs" trailer has us wondering who this Aiden Pierce is what his motives are, and what we can expect of his story arc.
