iPhone 6 or 5S Release Date 2013: June Launch Likely For Cheaper Apple Phone, New iPhone [REPORT]
The iPhone 5S or iPhone 6 release date is coming soon. Apple is reportedly testing two new iPhone prototypes. One of the prototypes is reportedly the iPhone 5S, which is the name given to a slightly upgraded iPhone; the other prototype is reported the iPhone 6, which will be a cheaper version of the existing iPhone 5. The iPhone 6 and iPhone 5S release dates are reportedly going to be in June or July.
Jefferies analyst Peter Misek said that the new iPhone would be "low-cost" and "similar to the iPad Mini" in its execution rather than "cheap" according to a report from Know Your Mobile. The iPhone 6, as it's being called, would feature a polycarbonate case with a 4-inch non-Retina Display screen and no 4G capabilities.
The iPhone 6 would reportedly make drastic cuts back in technology in order to save on production costs, which makes it an odd decision for Apple. The Cupertino, Calif.-based company is known for ignoring the costs of production in order to pursue excellence in technology. Phil Schiller, Apple's Senior Vice President of Marketing, has insisted that Apple would never try to sell a cheap phone. hiller reportedly said, "Despite the popularity of cheap smartphones [in China], this will never be the future of Apple's products."
The iPhone 5S would presumably be an upgrade to the high-end model of the iPhone 5. That means that it's likely to be even faster, but will probably use the same casing as the iPhone 5 and will not be any lighter. Apple recently patented a new iPhone design that doesn't include a Home button, but most experts believe that the new design will be saved for the cheaper iPhone, the iPhone 6.
"Apple has patented an iPhone without the home button, and the device in question is believed to be the rumored cheaper variant of Cupertino's successful smartphone," reports Tom's Hardware.
The patent application was filed in February 21, 2012. IT was awarded on January 29, 2013. The filing lists these Apple engineers principal founders: Chong Yip Chow, Hongqin Zhang, Shizhe Shen and Michael DiVincent. The filling indicates that the design has been in development for about a year. Once the patent is in place, Apple is likely to put the patent to use by releasing the design in a new phone.
"A portable device has a rear facing camera assembly and a front facing display assembly that includes at least a protective cover layer, a display stack that includes a plurality of display components arranged in a plurality of interconnected layers, the display stack providing an imaging service, and a flat support chassis arranged to provide support for the display stack."
'It should be appreciated, however, that other transparent materials such as clear plastic can be used," Apple described. "The back of the device is embroiled by a protective cover that Apple says "can wrap around and protect at least the rear portion of the portable device without adversely affecting an image capture process carried out by the rear facing camera assembly.'
The iPhone 5S is likely to have a huge 4.8-inch display, which will make it the largest iPhone ever. Other rumors suggest that Apple will include near-field communication(NFC) technology in the new device, although it's still unclear whether the company will opt to support that particular technology. NFC trends have stagnated over the last several months. Although Samsung often promotes NFC capabilities as a triumph over the iPhone, most users don't actually get much use from the feature.
The iPhone 5S is also likely to have a much larger battery back. The pack might add a little weight, but many consumers simply prefer having longer
Experts believe that Apple needs to sell cheaper phones in emerging markets and to pre-paid users in order to fully saturate the mobile phone industry. The new iPhones will likely have an incredible battery life -- probably longer -- which will follow in the footsteps of a strong tradition of great battery life. The iPhone 5S will be an incremental upgrade similar to the iPhone 4S from the iPhone 4..
If a new iPhone doesn't have a home button, the new iPhone probably wont have a front-facing camera either. That means that Apple would be putting its FaceTime program on the backburner, which would seem odd since the program especially popularized video conferencing with friends.
The iPhone 5S and iPhone 6 released dates are reportedly going to coincide with each other. There's strong reason to believe that the phones will be launching in June or July.
