Freddy E Death: Honey Cocaine Says She And Rapper Were 'Just Friends'
Honey Cocaine told MTV News on Wednesday that she was "just friends" with rapper Freddy E, who died this past Sunday. As we previously reported, Freddy E documented his reported suicide on Twitter, with many blaming his relationship with ex Honey Cocaine for his death.
"What they don't understand is that we were friends, we were just friends," Honey Cocaine said. "Blogs are saying that I was his ex-girlfriend and he did what he did because of a failed relationship. That has nothing to do with anything. I need people to understand that it was just a friendship."
Indeed, Honey Cocaine told MTV that Freddy E was going through many other issues before his untimely death.
"I think he was just going through a lot, and that's his personal business," she said. "I'm not going to speak about what he was going through, but as his friend, I did communicate with him often," she explained, teary-eyed. "I just feel like he couldn't handle his problems anymore, and this is someone who had real, deep issues within him, and I didn't know, I guess his friends didn't know. And I guess he made himself seem happy, but he was really just holding everything inside.
Freddy E. made headlines for his series of tweets leading up to his death. As Daily Mail notes, the tweets included photos of the rapper partying followed by messages to his loved ones and an apology to God.
"Today, our son, Frederick Eugene Buhl (@freddy_e), age 22 years old, took his own life with a rifle shot to the head," the message read in part. "Our family is saddened beyond words; our loss is great; this tragedy is enormous and unforeseen. Not only our family, but the world has lost a talented, sensitive, brilliant young man who lit up our existence with his. We love him a great deal, and he will be sorely missed. We pray that God will now watch over him, and we ask all of you to include Frederick and our entire family in your thoughts and prayers."
