It's no secret that PS3 owners have been clamoring for Skyrim's Dragonborn DLC. And why shouldn't they? Disgruntled gamers are quick to point out that the back of the SKyrim box promises that downloadable content will be available for the title. After three (yes, THREE) DLC packs for the Xbox 360, it's no wonder that PS3 Skyrim fans are nearly ready to murderize some folks at Bethesda.

And they might just start with Pete Hines.

SegmentNext.com is reporting on a Twitter exchange between Bethesda's Vice President and a disappointed Skyrim fan (and PS3 owner) that managed to reveal that Bethesda is simply not ready to reveal ANY details about the Dragonborn DLC. (Sounds a little like their Dawnguard press strategy, no?)

Here's the exchange between Hines (@DCDeacon) and Kyle Collier (@Kyle_lobcity):

Collier's reply pretty much sums up the whole Skyrim DLC PS3 experience.

"This is bulls-t," he tweeted, ending the exchange.

Now, I don't think it's necessarily fair to throw Hines under the bus for his comments. Obviously, the Skyrim Dragonborn DLC release date is something Bethesda is taking seriously. If a member of the team says something on Twitter that turns out to be false, well, in a way that's worse than withholding info. So, in that regard, I think PS3 fans have to understand WHY he can't give a date out, as it's likely Bethesda doesn't have one yet.

HOWEVER, I think the most revealing part of the exchange was Hines essentially admitting that Bethesda has abandoned the Dawnguard project in favor of trying to bring the Skyrim Dragonborn DLC to the PS3 first. This should effectively squash the rumors that Bethesda was going to offer all three at a reduced rate as an apology of sorts to PS3 owners.

Hearthfire, the oft-overlooked DLC for Skyrim, doesn't seem to be headed for the PS3 either. Bethesda said on their blog that they wanted to release the Skyrim Dragonborn DLC first because it's "the best content to release first, and we didn't want folks to wait longer. Once it's ready to go for everyone, we'll continue our previous work on Hearthfire and Dawnguard for PS3."

Skyrim's PS3 fans are understandably impatient, having been heard the same sort of thing from Bethesda since Dawnguard was released in June.

"Alienating customers by providing vague information, or totally disregarding their questions is not a good example of public relations. Specific questions were asked, specific answers would be appreciated..." poster 'Chuck' wrote on Bethesda's blog comments.

"As a ps3 user I am very disappointed yet again I've been waiting for this dlc since it had been announced and bethesda made it sound like we were for sure getting this one. I paid just as much for this game as much as the xbox 360 users and quite upset that I havent been able to download one dlc. I do enjoy the game but every time a dlc comes out and I am neglected again I get a second thought on ever investing in a game from this company again," said poster 'Dean' on the same thread.

Bethesda's only semi-firm Skyrim Dragborn DLC for PS3 release date is "early 2013." Early could mean anything from January to April, and all PS3 fans can do is what Bethesda has trained them to do so far. Wait, wait, wait ...
