Samsung Galaxy S4 Specs, Release Date 2013: May Launch Leaked On Facebook? Will We See A Prototype At CES? [VIDEO]
The Galaxy S4 release date is one of the most highly anticipated events of 2013, and industry analysts have speculated that the Samsung smartphone could be unveiled at the World Mobile Congress in February, or even at CES this week in Las Vegas.
But dreams of a Galaxy S4 release date in early 2013 came crashing down when Samsung's Lebanon branch revealed on Facebook that the redesigned Android smartphone won't be unveiled until May, according to Pocket Lint.
It's still unclear if Samsung Lebanon actually just leaked the Galax S4 2013 released date, or if this is all a big hoax. According to Pocket Lint's screenshot, one Anthony Ghattas posed, "hey, is there any news for the Samsung Galaxy S4 release?"
Samsung quickly responded that the Galaxy S4 "won't be released before May 2013." "Won't be !!!!!!!!!!!" was Ghattas (and pretty much every other Samsung fan's) response. Since then Samsung Lebanon has done their best to downplay the leak, but they haven't be able to flat out deny their previous statement.
"Hello guys," they posted. "What we said is only trivial since all Galaxy S series are released between late April and Early May, yet there's no way for anyone to know the exact release date."
A laer update flat out denied any truth to the rumors that the Galaxy S4 release date was set for May 2013.
"We as a page have no news on the release of the Galaxy SIV, the info shared was done by mistake," wrote Samsung Lebanon.
If that was the rule Samsung had set for Galaxy S device release dates we've certainly never heard it before. We're still hoping to see the S4 at WMC 2013 or maybe soon afterward at a special event, but it looks like we may have to wait a few months extra.

The Galaxy S4 release date for 2013 may still be months away, but rumors are flying that Samsung is planning to show off a prototype of the new smartphone at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) this week in an effort to "woo carriers," according to GottaBeMobile.
Korean news source MK is reporting that Samsung is preparing to unveil a Galaxy S4 prototype to CES in order to show off the smartphone's new specs and features. The catch, however, is that the device will only be shown to "various carrier executives," and won't be on display to the public a lage or the press. But with Samsung Vice Chairman Le Jae Yong carrying the Galaxy S4 around in his pocket all week it seems pretty likely that a few photos could leak online.
With the Galaxy S4 release date still so far away, it makes sense that Samsung would want to have something to show off at CES 2013 and keep the carriers interested. Considering that the Galaxy S3 has already sold over 30 million units cellular companies probably won't need much convincing. Then again, with other companies including LG and ZTE preparing to showcase their new 1080p displays, Samsung needs to show that their still on the cutting edge of smartphone design.
The Galaxy S4 prototype specs include a 5-inch screen with Full HD 1,920x1080 resolution with 441ppi, a quad-core ARM processor, 13MP camera, Android Jelly Bean (or maybe Key Lime Pie), and 2GB of RAM, according to MK. All of the features will the make the Galaxy S4 a significant step up from the S2 and S3, and ensure that the ball is in Apple's court to match Samsung's specs with the iPhone 6.
We've also heard rumors that the Galaxy S4 could an S Pen stylus, the same one featured on Samsung's popular Galaxy Note smartphones.
"The Samsung Galaxy IV might be the first handset in the series to launch with an S Pen and the accompanying functionality as Samsung is allegedly looking to unite its Note series with the flagship Galaxy S IV," Phone Arena reported, citing Korean blog called Enuri as their source.
Samsung Lebanon has accidentally confirmed the Galaxy S4 is in production and slated for a release date in 2013. However, Samsung has officially refrained from commenting on all rumors regarding the smartphone.
Can you wait until May 2013 for the Samsung Galaxy S4 release date? Or will you by a different smartphone if Samsung can't launch their next device sooner? Share your thoughts in the comments.
