Many Fox News viewers were in for a shock this morning, thanks to the announcement that Dave Briggs will leave the weekend edition of "Fox & Friends" at the end of 2012.

Host Dave Briggs shocked thousands of "Fox & Friends" viewers this weekend when he announced that he would leave the show at the end of 2012 during Sunday's broadcast, though there doesn't seem to be much need for fans to worry just yet.

While he didn't elaborate on his plans for the future, Briggs all but guaranteed that he would remain on Fox News and simply take on a new role at the network. The "Fox & Friends" personality hopped online to show his former co-hosts a little more love, and ask fans to stick with him during the new year. Most notably, Briggs' co-host Rick Reichmuth went as far as to remind Briggs that he's "not moving anywhere" during the on-air announcement.

Both of Briggs co-hosts on "Fox & Friends" made reference to the theoretical new show, which may be co-anchored by Dave Briggs and an unidentified female host. In fact, "Fox & Friends" co-host Alisyn Camerota alluded to just such a situation when she gave the departing Briggs a variety of colored socks.

"I don't know if your new co-anchor is going to want to match her outfit to your socks," said Camerota. "But I got you some new socks to match with her outfits."

Not exactly subtle, was she?

After announcing that he would leave "Fox & Friends" at year's end, Dave Briggs also took a few moments to thank network president Roger Ailes, and some of the production members that he credited for his professional growth and success. The trio of "Fox & Friends" hosts also joked that Briggs was actually leaving to replace mega-popular Fox News personality Bill O'Reilly, host of The O'Reilly Factor. An amusing idea, but one which we think wouldn't sit particularly well with most Fox News viewers.
