Thanksgiving is a day of togetherness...and food. It's also the day that one of the biggest parades in New York City take place. Thousands of people, from New York and across the country, will pile into the streets to see the elegantly designed floats and the methodical marching bands walk across New York. The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade has been a staple for family on Thanksgiving every year, and now, you can watch it online.

The 86th annual Thanksgiving Day Parade, sponsored by Macy's, will start at 9 AM EST and walk 40 blocks along 6th avenue, eventually ending at Macy's in Herald Square around 12 PM EST. A map of the parade route can be seen on Macy's website.

According to iDigitalTimes, the best views of the parade are near "Central Park West from 72nd Street all the way to 61st Street." The floats this year will feature dozens of popular character from movies and TV shows, including Hello Kitty, Kermit the Frog, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Spongebob Squarepants, Spider-Man, Kung Fu Panda, Ronald McDonald, the Pillsbury Doughboy, Pikachu, Buzz Lightyear, Sailor Mickey Mouse and Sonic the Hedgehog. Unfortunately, Snoopy will not be present this year, after being featured in 36 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parades over the past 86 years.

For those of you who want to watch the parade, there are a plethora of options available to to you. The parade will be televised on CBS and NBC, the parade's official broadcasting station, starting at 9 AM EST. Networks are estimating that more than 50 million people will tune into watch the parade on TV. Macy's also has an official "Macy's Parade" app in the iTunes App Store for fans to get updates and fun facts about the parade. NBC is also offering a live stream of the parade online. According to IBTimes, the live stream will have eight different views of the parade, including the "ParadeCam, the StreetCam, the North View, the South View, the Crossroads, the Bird's Eye View and the CrowdCam." The live stream is a great addition by NBC, who is realizing that not everyone will be able to watch the parade on their television (if they even have one). After coming under fire for their coverage of the 2012 Summer Olympics, NBC seems like they're learning from their mistakes with the Thanksgiving Day Parade coverage.

In addition to the number of floats, there will be a number of celebrities at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Last year featured many big names, including Mary J. Blige and Cee Lo Green. Watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade to find out which big stars will be in New York City for the big parade!
