AMA Winners! As you've probably already heard, the 40th Anniversary of the 'American Music Awards' on November 19, 2012, were a very big night for one Mr. Justin Bieber. But just how big was it? And who won artist of the year? 2012 music fans, we have a full recap of all the results-- and even a little video-- here.

In case you've been living under a rock and don't know who the sprite wearing red Twizzlers for pants is, that's Justin Bieber, proving he can hold his own singing and dancing on a livestage with the famously audacious Nicki Minaj. It was a big night for the Internet's favorite little man. Even if all he needs is 'Beauty and a Beat,' the AMA still saw fit to give him-- and Nicki-- an award or two.

Pop or Rock Music: Favorite Male Artist: Justin Bieber

The first award of the 40th Anniversary of the American Music Awards goes to Justin Bieber. If you're thinking to yourself, "Who will win artist of the year?" now's the safest time to put all your money on red (pants).

Country Music: Favorite Female Artist: Taylor Swift

I love this terminology, don't you? Not best, but favorite. And when it comes to Taylor Swift, it's really hard to tell the difference between the two. Mad congratulations on her 11th AMA. Winners really do go on to do amazing things. Still wondering who will win Artist of the Year, though. As much as we think it could be Taylor Swift, I wouldn't put my money on her. As on point as her new album is, it's not very cultural zeitgeisty.

Rap / Hip-Hop Music: Favorite Album: Nicki Minaj's "Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded"

This album killed it. It's equal measures infectious radio-ready pop and tough-as-nails rap, with a little MPD sprinkled over it for good measure. That we're ready for a rapper as bombastically bizarre as Nicki Minaj proves that our pop music tastes may be more sophisticated than one thinks. Nicki Minaj is another very strong pick for who will win artist of the year at this American Music Awards, as her AMA winner ship here means she's definitely in the running for winning the big one of the night.

Alternative Rock Music: Favorite Artist: Linkin Park

Linkin Park is still around? Seriously? That's cool, I guess.

New Artist Of The Year: Carly Rae Jespen

Hey, I just met you, and this is crazy, but here's an AMA, so go away, maybe. No, but in all seriousness, Canadian pop-star and mother of the songworm Carly Rae Jespen had an amazing year, given that Call Me Maybe was the only new song that came out in 2012. But lest we forget that the only reason we paid attention in the beginning was because of a video Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, and more friends from that posse made dancing and lip-syncing to it.

If nothing else, it's proof that Justin Bieber is who will win artist of the year at the 2012 American Music Awards. The fact that Jespen's smash success resulted from his plugging means the pop star is so powerful, he can turn just about anything into gld.

Pop or Rock Music: Favorite Album: Justin Bieber's "Believe"

It's looking like the results for the night belong to Justin Bieber. He's as primed as anyone to take the biggie of the night, and his biggest competition is Nicki Minaj.

Rap/Hip-Hop Music: Favorite Artist: Nicki Minaj

Another big one for Nicki Minaj! The barbie-rapper takes home two AMAs from the night, the winner of four AMAs in total. She's a strong second place for the win, as she's infinitely more polarizing than Justin Bieber on a bad day, or at his poppets.

Artist of the Year - Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber wins artist of the year for the 2012 American Music Awards. It's his third win of the night in three categories he was nominated, and his 7th AMA win overall. If that doesn't speak to the power of his pop, we don't know what will.

Yes, that means he beat Usher, his mentor. Watch video here:
