Snoop Dogg’s Reggae Reincarnation as “Snoop Lion” Spawns Humorous Twitter Hashtag #UpgradedRapperNames

This week it seems Mac computers are not the only ones to receive an upgrade. According to Rapper Snoop Dogg, he's undergone a reincarnation and is now emerging as reggae artist "Snoop Lion".

"I want to bury Snoop Dogg, and become Snoop Lion" the former rapper asserted at a news conference in New York, Tuesday.

The rapper recently made visit to Jamaica at which time he experienced a rebirth - both spiritually and artistically and was given the new name "Snoop Lion" by Rastafarian priests.

"I didn't know that until I went to the temple, where the High Priest asked me what my name was, and I said, 'Snoop Dogg.' And he looked me in my eyes and said, 'No more. You are the light; you are the lion.' From that moment on, it's like I had started to understand why I was there."

The name, however, is not the only thing Snoop Lion has changed. Professing rap "no longer a challenge" Snoop says he plans to begin a new chapter as a reggae artist starting with his next album titled "Reincarnation".

According to the Lion, "I've won every accolade you can get in rap ... they call me 'Uncle Snoop' in rap. When you're an uncle, it's time to find something new. ... I want to feel like a kid again."
