"The Bible" Obama Devil controversy has TV fans wondering if the History Channel series purposefully hired an actor who looks like the current US President to play Satan on TV. The comparison went viral after Glenn Beck pointed it out on Twitter, but the show's producers are calling the conspiracy theory "utter nonsense." Read on for more on the "Bible" Obama Devil controversy and Satan look-a-like conspiracy.

The "Bible" Obama Devil controversy first took off on Sunday night as soon as viewers got their first look at the Satan character and noticed that he looked a bit like a cloaked and wrinkled version of the US President.

Here's his tweet that arguably started the entire "Bible" Obama Devil doppelganger conspiracy theory:

Beck wasn't the only one tweeting about the "Bible" Obama Devil controversy though, here's just a few other people who were talking about the Satanic conspiracy theory online:

"Oh my word....watching The History Channel's The Bible...does Satan look familiar to anyone else?" - @LeahMChristie.

"Watching The Bible series on the History channel and noticed the guy playing the role of satan, looks strikingly similar to Obama...#KREEPY" - @mgaudet11

"The Bible on the History channel portrayed the temptation of Christ in the desert and satan looked exactly like Barack Obama. Coincidence?" - @thoro6rt

"Wait....The Bible series used an actor who looked like Obama to play Satan? BAWAHAHAHA!! When art imitates life (or something like that)..." - @kesgardner

However, it soon became clear that the entire "The Bible" Obama Devil controversy was, as the History Channel show's producers called it, "utter nonsense." Here's their full response (via Deadline):

"This is utter nonsense. The actor who played Satan, Mehdi Ouzaani, is a highly acclaimed Moroccan actor. He has previously played parts in several Biblical epics - including Satanic characters long before Barack Obama was elected as our President. Both Mark and I have nothing but respect and love our President, who is a fellow Christian. False statements such as these are just designed as a foolish distraction to try and discredit the beauty of the story of The Bible."

With the "Bible" Obama Devil History Channel conspiracy cleared up Glenn Beck and his followers retreated, though not before the right-leaning political pundit tried to deflect the blame while also reaffirming his commitment to the Judeo-Christian-inspired TV mini series.

"Media - relax. Actor has been in similar roles b4. Funny, nothing more. For different reasons, #TheBible is 1 of my fav shows. Keep watching," tweeted Glenn Beck earlier today.

The History Channel also responded directly to the "Bible" Obama Devil conspiracy calling it an unfortunate accident in a public statement earlier today.

"The series was produced with an international and diverse cast of respected actors. It's unfortunate that anyone made this false connection. History's The Bible is meant to enlighten people on its rich stories and deep history."

What do you think of the "Bible" Obama Devil controversy? Satanic conspiracy or weird coincidence? Will it make you stop watching (or if you've never seen it before Start watching) the ratings beast of a History Channel show? Let us know in the comments.
